MEMBERS AREA - GRADINGS
-kickboxing 4 respect-

Optional grading examinations are held within our classes every eight to ten weeks. Participation will allow you to work your way through our syllabus and hopefully be rewarded with coloured belts upon passing. These belts indicate your achievements and chart your progress. We practice the necessary routines for a few minutes in most classes.

You will start your journey as 'ungraded', many martial arts groups will award you with a white belt when you begin but we feel you must earn your belts. Below you will see the order of the belts along with the routines you will need practice and then perform in the exam. Please note that you will never be asked to perform anything in front of others...

Additionally, we will teach you 3 routines from our 'Power Delivery' syllabus, performed on kick-shields. You will be asked to demonstrate the beginner routine at red, yellow and orange belt gradings, the intermediate routine at green, blue and purple belt gradings and the advanced routine at brown belt. At black belt gradings you will have to perform all 3 (videos for these available soon).

Your first grading can be taken after at least 8 weeks, further gradings can be done regularly at beginner level. However, you should take your time and gain experience from Green belt onwards. We recommend a year between Brown and Black Belt gradings and insist on a year from 1st Dan to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. 4th Dan Black Belts and higher are awarded on an honorary basis.

Gradings are charged at £30.00 each from Red to Purple belts, £60.00 for Brown Belts and £190.00 for Black Belts. If you are successful you will be awarded with your belt and certificate, if not there is no charge to retake the exam at a later date. At Black Belt level if you pass you receive an embroidered belt, glass engraved plaque and a feedback sheet. Again, if you were to fail there is no charge to retake the exam again later.

So now you know how it works, how about getting some practice in? You can study our entire grading syllabus from the comfort of your own home using the videos below. Chief Instructors Dan Maguire and Adam Bagshaw come together under the old 'Learn Kickboxing' umbrella to break down each routine step by step in both evasion format and on focus pads. Enjoy and good luck!
